In Control Of Your Destiny

Here I wanted to depict the fact that we are in control of our lives; we are in the driving seat. A dog was used for the pilot because a man or woman could imply that the message applied to just men or women. I also felt a dog would add an element of humour to lighten the underlying message which can seem daunting and sometimes impossible to people experiencing anxiety or low self-esteem.

In My Head

Behind all the emotional rubbish in my head is a hidden me that has dreams, has passions, that has valuable things to give to society.

You’re Just Fine

Some of my experiences have led me to feel I’ve done something wrong or that there is something wrong with me, but rationally, I have done no wrong. This image is to remind me that I’m okay.

Emerging From a Sheltered Place

Here I am emerging from a forest with a sense of energy and fighting spirit. I experience a forest as a safe place, away from humanity and the dangers of the world. It represents the sheltered place I have lived in until recently. Now, I am coming out into the world, taking on life’s challenges. Riding a horse espresses the energy that I’m bringing with me. Colours felt significant in this image. The horse is white so that it stands out. I am wearing a red top because I am the important thing in the image and I am full of energy. My bow and arrow are gold because I deserve good things. My therapist thought that the fact I am with a horse was significant as I have shown myself with another being instead of alone.

Angry Fist

Often my anger is directed inwards, but on this occasion the intention is to express the anger in an outwards direction. Red is used as the colour of anger and a black background and lack of any other content makes it clear that the image is communicating anger and not trying to incorporate any other associations.

Colourful Anger

This image was created as a way of getting some anger out. The vibrant colours represent the strength of the anger within me.

Cos U Deserve It

This image expresses anger towards my therapist. She’s depicted here in front of a landmark in her home town to make it clear that it is her. I sometimes relate to her as a mother figure and the anger expressed encompasses my anger towards her, my anger towards my biological mother, anger towards the world, and anger towards myself.
