About NorthernRose

I’m female, in my late thirties and live in the north west of England. I previously worked in IT until being made redundant at the end of 2013. So far I have not sought paid employment but do spend time doing voluntary work at an animal shelter and at an office each week. Because of the difficulties I am experiencing, I attend psychotherapy regularly. Apart from my art work, I also like knitting, crochet, cross stitch, nature and photography.

  1. Psychotherapy can be helpful, I think, though if rumination is a problem for you, it would be useful to branch out in other directions, as well.

The best book I’ve found on happiness/ depression/ anxiety is “The How of Happiness” by a research psychologist who publishes in peer-reviewed circles. Here’s a glimpse: She asked her little son what “love” means and he said, “It means I want to kiss you a lot and live with you forever.” She says she thinks that’s the perfect definition of love. An amazing book written by a true scientist, not a reductionist or an educated guesser. I couldn’t recommend her book more highly.

    All my best to you,
